10 Coffee Table Books for Every Beach House

10 Coffee Table Books for Every Beach House

May 2020

Author: Isaac Ross

A beach house is a living organism. Filled with sand, memories, friends, home cooked meals and family photos. After a few hours in the sun, an afternoon of tennis, or a long lunch with friends and family, a calm moment on a cozy sofa in the living room can be a much needed reprieve. Sometimes I’ll turn on a baseball game or tennis match, but I’m often more drawn to the coffee table books within arms reach.
It’s amazing what a collection of books can say about someone - their interests, their sensibility, their favorite artists and places.
We recently opened our first store - a cozy beach shack on Lafayette Street in NYC complete with shiplap walls, sisal rugs, a built in canvas sofa, rattan furniture, a cedar deck and changing rooms, and enough books to endlessly entertain our staff and customers. We knew that the books we left out for our guests would say something about us, so we chose them carefully, made sure they captured the beach house spirit and decided to share 10 of our favorites with you. You may have flipped through a few of them before, and hopefully there are at least a couple new discoveries.

Pro tip: Support your local bookstores and resellers if you can, and try to find a gently used second hand copy - a bit of character never hurts!
